Electronic chip, interacting with the brain, modifies pathways for controlling movement (Oct 30)

Researchers at the University of Washington (UW) are working on an implantable electronic chip that may help establish new nerve connections in the part of the brain that controls movement.

How brain injury leads to seizures, memory problems (Oct 23)

In a finding that may provide a scientific basis for eventual treatment, neurology researchers have shown that traumatic brain injury reduces the level of a protein that helps keep brain activity in balance.

Sports medicine specialists in the University at Buffalo's Sports Medicine Institute have developed a new method for treating athletes who sustain post-concussion syndrome.

Drug improves memory loss for traumatic brain injury patients (Oct 9)

Traumatic brain injury patients with moderate to severe memory loss improved their memories while taking the drug rivastigmine, according to a study published in Neurology

Progesterone shows promise as treatment for traumatic brain injuries (Oct 2)

Emory University researchers have found that giving progesterone to trauma victims shortly following brain injury appears to be safe and may reduce the risk of death and the degree of disability.
