The Faculties of Engineering and Life and Health Sciences at the University of Ulster are producing physical models of the skull defects - holes in the bone caused either by injury or surgery - to enable hospital technicians to create exactly matching titanium plates used to repair the damage.

Researchers from the University of Toronto and the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute have documented negative mood disturbances such as depression and confusion resulting from sports concussions for the first time.

Unraveling The Secrets Of The Brain's Smallest Cells (Apr 26)

Scientists have made the first ever recordings of the brain's smallest cells at work sensing the outside world. Their findings could help unlock the secrets of the cerebellum, a key motor control centre in the brain which, when damaged, can lead to movement disorders such as ataxia and loss of balance
