TBI Legislation

TBI Legislation

BIA Legislative Action Center

Congressional Task Force

National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA)
Nonprofit organization established to assist state government in promoting partnerships and building systems to meet the needs of individuals with brain injury and their families.

Pennsylvania state legislation HB 247
Proposed PA state legislation HB 247 which was introduced and sponsored by Rep. Dick Hess (R- Bedford, Fulton & Huntingdon Counties). This legislation would amend existing legislation to require the Dept. of Health to license and regulate all Home Care agencies and further would require that all home health aides employees (attendants) be licensed nurses. This reduces Consumer control and the Consumer Model and the years of progress that have been achieved in Pennsylvania for community-based personal care services. The amended Bill would also have a severe economic impact on the Commonwealth, very likely resulting in the return to long-term waiting lists for services.

Section 8 Program at Risk

South Dakota TBI Bill (pdf)
Bill that would require all insurance plans to cover brain injury rehabilitation.

TBI Act 2004-5

Trust Fund Increase - Kentucky (added: 4/20/04)
H.B. 157 increases the DUI service fees from $250 to $325 and specifies that 16% of the service fee shall be credited to the Traumatic Brain Injury Trust Fund and the Cabinet for Health Services for providing services to individuals with brain injuries. The bill also increases the cap for the Traumatic Brain Injury Trust Fund from $2.5 million to $3.25 million.
