The Effect of Laws Mandating Bicycle Helmet Use
Researchers found that when the rate of helmet use rose, from 36% in 1995 to 75% in 1997 and 84% in
1999. The proportion of injured cyclists with head injuries decreased by about half from 1995/96 to
1998/99 (1.6% v. 3.6%).
