Christine Johnson, MDMedical Director

Dr. Johnson has an impressive background in treating people who have survived traumatic and acquired brain injury. Her leadership and patient care at Centre for Neuro Skills began in 2005, when she joined the company as Medical Director for the Texas region. In this capacity, she sees a broad spectrum of neurological injury, including stroke and its myriad challenges. Dr. Johnson also works with patients who are compromised by COVID-19 neuro complications.

Dr. Johnson collaborates with case managers, therapists, and specialists to provide medical direction tailored to each patient’s needs. She has served on medical committees that address wound care, infection control, ethics, and concussion. Her numerous lectures at universities and medical centers reflect a strong desire to share this knowledge with practitioners.

Throughout her career Dr. Johnson has been recognized for her professional achievements. She was named Faculty of the Year, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM & R) Department, at University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center. She received the Barry S. Smith, M.D. Outstanding Teacher Award, PM & R Department, from Baylor Medical Center. She was an Associate Professor at UTSW and Parkland Hospitals. She holds an MD and Bachelor of Science degree (in Occupational Therapy) from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

In addition to her professional and academic achievements, Dr. Johnson is passionate about serving the community. She has provided indigent care in Dallas for Project Access and Volunteers in Medicine and was a grants committee volunteer for the United Way. Dr. Johnson has also served as a volunteer physician for marathons, high school exams clinics, and Texas Special Olympics.

She has also been a principal investigator and co-investigator in clinical trials focused on recombinant human growth hormone during rehabilitation from traumatic brain injury. Her work on the clinical trial, Effects of Rehabilitation and Gender on Stroke Outcome, is ongoing.
