Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)

For many years, the industry’s most venerable accreditation entity has honored CNS for its programs, practices, and staff excellence. CARF International, formerly the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process and continuous quality improvement.

All CNS facilities are reviewed by CARF every three years. The process entails a thorough on-site survey carried out by a CARF team of industry peers, who visit each location to review core aspects of clinical and administrative functions, and determine conformance to the applicable standards.

Over the years, CNS has received high praise in many key areas and has been awarded the highest certification possible – a three-year accreditation. CARF interviews staff, patients, and families of patients. Surveyors observe organizational practices, review documentation, and suggest ways to improve operations and service delivery. Excerpts from a past report of one clinic reflects several areas of distinction:

CARF logo“The CNS staff demonstrates strengths in kindness, empathy, curiosity, persistence, and knowledge to achieve meaningful person-centered outcomes in the attractive and functional environment.”

“The administrative leadership of CNS is dedicated to identifying program needs to maximize quality continuity of clinical services.”

“Research is supported and integrated as an important part of the organization. There is a focus on evidence-based practices and this has a direct effect on quality of services provided.”

“The persons served are satisfied and appreciative of all the residential and outpatient rehabilitation services provided. They consistently reported satisfaction with the individualization of the services provided and also the respect, compassion, and patience demonstrated by the staff members. The clinicians provide person-centered care in a compassionate manner.”

These comments signify the investment CNS has made in core aspects of rehabilitation. CARF surveys also praise the company’s technical and operations infrastructure, which support state of the art treatment. For families, insurers, caregivers and patients, CARF accreditation demonstrates a commitment to excellence.
