Unmasking

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)Unmasking is a process that changes the excitability or inhibition through an external process. An example of this is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), which uses a magnetic field to either increase the excitability or inhibit a certain specific circuit in the brain. The idea behind this is essentially implementing an artificial way to get specific neurons to fire the way you want in an attempt to stimulate them to fire in this manner on their own.
